The Original Chinese Orange Chicken

For sauce:

1 teaspoon of vegetable oil

¼ teaspoon of chili flakes

½ teaspoon of ginger

1 tablespoon of garlic

¼ cup of sugar

¼ cup of brown sugar

¼ cup of orange juice

¼ cup of vinegar

2 tablespoons of soy sauce

1 tablespoon grated orange zest

2 tablespoons of water + 2 tablespoons of cornstarch

For chicken:

Take 2 pounds of chicken thighs. Cut them in 1 inch cubes as it gives you a better texture.

1 tablespoon of salt

1 teaspoon of white pepper

1 cup of cornstarch

3 cups of flour

1 egg

1 teaspoon of paprika

1 ½ cups of water

2 tablespoon of oil

Mix the chicken well in the mixture and keep it in refrigerator for 30 minutes.


Fry the chicken about 25 pieces at a time for
atleast 6 minutes. The shade of the chicken when you take it out should be 1 shade darker from the original shade before frying.

Prepare the sauce at a saucepan at a medium-high heat.

Add the chicken pieces in the sauce and stir well.

Add 1 teaspoon of sesame oil.

Stir the chicken well for about 5 minutes.

Garnish, Serve and enjoy!!
